Suitcase Media. 2008-2009

Philiy has been setting up 'Suitcase Media' with a grant award from NESTA.  Suitcase Media's aim is to re-train exiled journalists to use Z1 cameras and place them into work experience. Philiy has the support of the BBC and other independent television projection companies. Philiy also hopes to set up a mentor scheme to run along side the project as well.

The project is still in its early stages, but look out for updates.

Mudlarking in Deptford. 2006

This was a project that Philiy took part in when she was teaching in South East London. It was an amazing project to be part of as they were able to really push the children into thinking creatively. Philiy was also able to provide photographs for Future Lab to use as publicity for the project .

On the move- Voices from the street. 2003-2004

Philiy worked with the charity 'Photovoice' training homeless people over the age of 25 to use SLR cameras to record what it is like to be homeless in London. Weekly workshops were held in parks and on the streets around Victoria Station. The Quaker library van was used as a place to sign cameras in and out, and for people to collect the work that they had done the week before. The lack of a centre to work from highlighted the transitory life of the participants and the work that they produced raised awareness about what it was like to be young and homeless in London.

A body of work that the homeless participants chose, was shown in the concrete basement at Waterloo in London. It was well received gaining national press and radio coverage. The participants invigilated the show themselves and sold Christmas cards of their work.
